Merudanda

Understand your spine. Transform your practice

For thousands of years, yoga has honoured the spine as Meru Danda—the sacred axis of the body and the subtle pathway of Sushumna Nadi. More than a structural column, it has been recognised as the foundation of vitality, awareness, and inner transformation. The human spine also tells a remarkable story of evolution. Over millions of years, it adapted to upright posture, allowing us to stand, move with freedom, free our hands for creativity, and perceive the world from a unique perspective. This extraordinary journey shaped not only human movement but also the very practices of yoga.
Meru Danda: Mapping the Human Spine bridges timeless yogic wisdom with modern anatomy and neuroscience, exploring the architecture of the spine, the intelligence of the nervous system, and their application through an informed, embodied practice of Asana, Pranayama, and Meditation.
